The Reserve at Sugar Mountain

The Reserve has a more spread-out, mountainside feel than a traditional condo tower. The community includes 37 villa-style buildings at elevations ranging from about 4,600 to 5,300 feet, with long-range views toward places like Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge, Beech Mountain, and Roan Mountain.

It tends to appeal to buyers who want a more residential feel while still being close to skiing, golf, hiking, and the other recreation on Sugar Mountain.

Sugar Ski & Country Club

If skiing is the priority, Sugar Ski deserves a close look.

The community sits at the top of Oma’s Meadow. Two-bedroom units are true ski-in/ski-out, while the efficiency, loft, and one-bedroom units are a short walk from the slope. Sugar Ski also has an indoor heated pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness room, and seasonal tennis and pickleball.

This is one of the clearest choices on the mountain for buyers who want to spend winter weekends getting to the slopes without loading everyone back into the car.

Skyleaf has a quieter, more wooded feel than some of the larger resort-style communities.
